Prof Martinez-Hervas, M.D., Ph. D., is currently Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Valencia. He studied Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia where he graduated in 2000. He completed his training period in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Hospital Clínico Universitario of Valencia in 2006, and obtained his doctorate “cum laude” a year later. His research work in the field of atherosclerosis began during the training period in Endocrinology and Nutrition, continuing in later years where he obtained a Río Hortega contract and a Juan Rodés contract from the Carlos III Health Institute. During this period of time, he made stays at the Sant Joan Hospital in Reus and at the Sint Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam, both research groups led by researchers of recognized international prestige in the field of atherosclerosis. Area of research lipid metabolism, inflammation, fatty liver, insulin resistance, and diabetes and its associated complications.
