Dr. Rens Reeskamp is a post-doctoral researcher at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers. His research focuses on the genetic basis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular diseases in general.

After completing his Ph.D. in 2021, in which he investigated novel genetic causes of Familial Hypercholesterolemia, he visited the lab of dr. A.V. Khera at the Center for Genomic Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to study polygenic risk scores for coronary artery disease risk prediction. Other areas of current research are novel lipid-lowering therapies, the role of angiopoietin-like protein 3 in lipid metabolism, and atherosclerotic plaque regression.

Currently, dr. Reeskamp is working as an internist in training at the OLVG hospital, the largest hospital in Amsterdam. He aspires to combine clinical work as a vascular medicine specialist with researching genetics, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
